Holistic Youth Development: The Healthy Living Series
Our annual speaker series took place in April, and it ended with a bang! Elevate believes that human beings have seven areas that make up a whole person. Each area can affect the health and well-being of the whole and often overlap in different aspects. Our model and approach to long-term and life-changing relationships focus on the following 7 areas:
Physical: related to the health of the body, focus on nutrition, physical activity, and hygiene
Emotional: identifying, owning, and expressing emotion (mental health)
Spiritual (moral): discussing the “what” & “why” of life, working through core beliefs and assumptions to identify purpose and vision
Vocational: career planning, building business and communication skills to ultimately deepen their professional experience. This can even be volunteering.
Financial: financial literacy with an emphasis on preventing debt, managing money, and philanthropy
Intellectual: stimulation of thought, learning, cognitive abilities, and exploring ways to problem solve
Social: developing skills to manage conflict, understand the impact of their actions on others, listen, and interact with different boundaries for different relationships
The Healthy Living Series aims to continue developing students in each of these areas through guest speakers and/or curated experiences. We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to this year’s guests:
