Event Horizon: Hosted by Dr. Talia Mota & Fordham University Students
During session one, undergraduate students from Fordham University delivered a presentation on Black Holes. The presentation concluded with a discussion on journaling and stream of conscious writing. The assignment was inspired by the concept of crossing the event horizon of a black hole, where it feels like time slows down for about a minute before the black hole consumes you! In this event horizon, Elevate students were asked to reflect on their lives so far and discussed the following prompts:
What is an achievement you are most proud of?
What is something that has been difficult to get through?
What is one thing you would have loved to accomplish before being sucked into the black hole?
During session two, the Fordham University students rejoined Elevate for an open discussion where both Fordham and Elevate students shared their journal entries. Tears and smiles filled the room. One of our students shared "He is proud of being alive and free. Having family that has been killed and incarcerated allows me to value life."
Many thanks again to our board member, Dr. Talia, and Fordham students for an incredibly vulnerable experience that brought our Elevate family even closer!
